Module 4: Phases
We take a deep dive into the phases of change. Understanding and identifying the phases of change will allow you to tailor your motivational interviewing skills effectively.
Module 5: Principles
In this module you’ll deepen your understanding of the principles of motivational interviewing, including communication strategies, patient motivations, empathy and more.
Module 6: Engage
Discover the dos and don’ts of establishing a working alliance with your client. We unpack essential skills around empathy, listening and reflection techniques.
Module 7: Focusing and making Use of Your OARS
Open questions, affirmation, reflective listening, and summary reflections (OARS) are all skills that you will understand and utilise during this module.
Module 8: Evoking Phase
You will be guided on how to recognise when your client is interested in and motivated for change. Recognise the signs they are willing and ready and how you should react.
Module 9: Planning
Help your clients commit to and work towards real and lasting change. Learn how to offer advice and mobilize change in the motivational interviewing style.
Module 10: Application
Review and implement the lessons learned in previous modules. Practically discover how to handle a client that is not confident and the best way to respond to resistance.
